Our Minister:

The Reverend David Bryce

Reverend Bryce was called by our congregation in November of 1992.  He has brought warmth, vitality and wisdom to his ministry here.

David has known he wanted to be a minister since he was seventeen years old, and he studied religion as an undergraduate.  However, before training specifically for the ministry, he was involved in several areas of counseling, including residential care for youth and crisis intervention. For twelve years he was a substance abuse counselor.  He believes that counseling is an important part of a minister's duties and values that experience.

David received a Master of Divinity degree from Yale Divinity School in May of 1991.

Our minister considers himself a "Spiritual Humanist."  He believes there is an inherent sense in human beings that they are part of something  greater than themselves.  For many of us, this includes the recognition that we are part of  all that is.  As humans we seek a sense of wonder and awe which is derived from our sense of oneness and connectedness.  One role of religion is to help us increase our sense of belonging, whether to a community, to the world or to the universe.

David believes that we are all co-travelers on the road of life and on a spiritual journey.  A minister does not have all the answers to life's questions, but can offer suggestions and support for our wwn individual efforts to seek the serenity, strength and inspiration to nourish our relationships with others, and with whatever our own higher power may be.
